An hors d'ourve of a different colour

Ask A Drunk : One Thread

I have been trying to raise a Strasbourg goose for the purpose of making my own foie gras. Hitherto, all my attempts have failed, perhaps because I do not live in Strasbourg. My question is: should I redirect my efforts toward raising Strasbourg ganders?

The geese are probably just obeying European Directive No.63579466.93/subsection 24. Covering the growing of foie gras outside of designated EU approved areas.
And who can blame them, when infringement carries the penalty of a heavy fine, confiscation of produce, and 5 years loss of subsidy grant?

Come to think of it, that's not much of a deterrent to geese is it, given the alternative.

I find Versailles ptarmigans far more palatable.

I once tried to rear an Arbroath Smokey. Five families died in the ensuing conflagration.
